About

Originally from Germany, I have lived around the world for most part of my life. After years in Portugal, Uganda, South Africa, Malaysia, Rio de Janeiro we recently moved to Yangon, a vibrant and fascinating city that is transforming rapidly in all sectors including the gastro scene.

Traditional food has an enormous variety, representing the vast ethnical diversity of Myanmar and the influences of Indian, Chinese and other emigrants over the centuries and will take years to fully discover. But in Yangon more and more modern restaurants are emerging and trying out creative twists of traditional influences. A whole new restaurant and bar scene to discover!

I hope to be able to accompany this process both with experimenting cooking myself with all the great and often yet unknown ingredients found at the local markets, the food tried and tested at the numerous restaurants across the city and further afield and the ideas provided by friends and beyond.
